Prayer and Fasting Day 12 Are You Politically Correct? For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20We hear a lot about being "politically correct" these days. Much of it is good and some is debatable. But today I am thinking about a different way to be "politically correct."Throughout the New Testament, we are called to a different way of life . . . a higher calling that is separate from the world. 1 Peter 2:9 tells us, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." We are members of the Kingdom of God and our politics is that of the Almighty King Jesus. So with this political structure, are we politically correct? Are we answering the call our Leader has for us? Are we recognizing and living by the Spiritual Laws of this Kingdom? The lesson the Lord showed me in my meditations during the Daniel Fast is that while most of us proclaim Christ, we are not living as fully in Him as we can. Too much of the world distracts us from the glorious life we could have if we were sold out for the Kingdom of God. That doesn't mean we'd be living in monasteries or communes. But it does call us to a life of faith that is different from what we have known before.I have to ask if I truly consider myself a member in a "chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and His own special people." Or do I feel more like an American or a Washingtonian? Of what nation do I consider my land?If I were politically correct in the "holy nation" I would have total trust in my King, believing His every Word and following His every lead. My heart would be full of peace and I would make love my aim. I would believe more, worry less and have complete confidence in my future no matter what condition the economy is in or if my circumstances are stretching. For me, I want to be politically correct in the Kingdom to which I am called. I realize even as I write this message that my flesh needs more renewing and my spirit more training. What I know for sure is that I won't hear my King arguing on a campaign platform against His opponent (who is already defeated), nor will I have to vote as to whether something really is or is not politically correct. In the Holy Nation, the King is always right, always fair, and always looking out for me! That's the nation I want for my life, my seed, and my seed's seed.Be blessed,Susan Gregory ... Prayer and Fasting Day 11Forty Years or Eleven Days?It is eleven days' journey from Horeb by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea. Deuteronomy 1:2Without broadcasting my age to the world, let me just say I am "well-seasoned." I've been around a while . . . I'm in those "sage" years of my life. The best years started when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior more than 40 years ago. But as I look back over those years, I realize I spent most of them in the wilderness, just like the Israelites. And all the while the Promised Land was only an eleven day journey away!Only ten or eleven years ago did I start learning that because of Christ I can have more than a ticket to heaven! Jesus actually made it possible for me to have a victorious life now! So I started digging into the Word and learning how to appropriate the promises of God that He makes possible for us today. It took me a while . . . I had to work through feelings of unworthiness and doubt. But as my faith grewI started asking the Lord for specific needs and He provided! I admit, at first I was shocked! "Wow, Lord! You really do answer prayer!"Since then I have learned more and more about praying for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.I continue to learn and God continues to be Who He is, the Faithful One. And now I am ready to get radical about every area of my existence. I want my life to be such a powerful testimony for living a Spirit-filled life that people want what I have! Not because of me, but because of Jesus! The Daniel Fast has served as a powerful wake-up call for me. I don't want to live in the "natural" anymore. I want a "supernatural" life. I won't let the enemy knock me around like before. I am a child of the Most High God and I plan to claim every promise, every protection and every right that my inheritance affords me!We are walking into a new time . . . the world is shaking in many ways. But we must take hold and claim what is ours! We can be consecrated and separate for a season . . . or we can make it the way we live - Spirit-led, victorious and shining examples of the Way of Christ. We've wandered in the wilderness long enough! The Promised Land is waiting for us. But we have to take the journey to get there. We must know what the Word of God says about us. We must align our lives with God's Way. And we must think, act and speak as Jesus taught us.Of the 1.5 million Israelites that left Egypt, only two crossed the Jordon and entered into the Promised Land. Of the millions of Christians around the world today, how many will accept the challenge and make their way to the promises and victorious life made possible for us because of the cross? I am determined to be one . . . and I hope as you read these words, you too will commit to the journey. No more wilderness-living for us. We know a better place and we're on our way to the land the Lord gave us! Hallelujah!Be blessed,Susan Gregory ... See MoreSee Less

Prayer and Fasting Day 10If You Have a Need, Plant and Seed!Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Galatians 6:7A while back I was talking with a new believer who is under some heavy financial pressures. He was filled with worry and fear and just kept shaking his head saying, "This is so hard. It's just so hard." We had a good conversation and I was able to encourage him . . . but when I asked him about tithing, his immediate response was, "Oh, I don't even want to go there. I am too broke. I can't even think about that right now."He was so emphatic, that I didn't press it. Plus, he was in conversations with his pastor about his new found faith and his giving. I didn't want to get in the way of any of that . . .But I did give him one picture for him to think about, "Imagine Farmer Bill standing at the edge of his 30 acre field. He's looking up to the sky and once again lamenting to God, "Why don't you make this crop grow. I have been waiting and waiting. I have been pleading with you. But the only thing growing in this field is weeds!"Suddenly the clouds begin to rumble and Bill knows it's the voice of the Lord, "Hey Bill, I've been patient, too. When are you going to plant the seed?"Planting seed isn't just about money . . . although God's commandments are very clear about tithing. But we also need to look at every area of need and see if we're like Farmer Bill. Maybe you're frustrated with your spouse because you're not getting the kind of attention you want . . . check out your seed. Perhaps you feel lonely and don't' want to sit at home another weekend with nothing to do . . . check out your seed. Or possibly you are wondering why you don't have the kind of deep and intimate spiritual life you want . . . check out your seed.God is clear on this subject, and He says He will not be mocked. Whatever we sow, we will also reap. That works both ways. We can be planting seeds of love and kindness. Or we can plant seeds of strife and contention. We can plant seeds of trust and faith or we can plant seeds of worry and fear. The next time you get ready to present a request to the Lord, first make sure you have good seed in the ground. Don't be like Farmer Bill . . . but instead be like the farmers who have such abundance that they have to sell it, store it and give it away!Be blessed,Susan GregoryPrayer Focus: That the Lord will bless what you invest in God's kingdom.Let us pray! Father God thank you for this 10th day of prayer and fasting. Thank you for your wisdom from the scripture. Thank you for teaching us to be a doer of the faith you have given us. Indeed what we sow is what we reap. I pray that you will bless what your people have planted to peoples heart. And you are the one who will cause it to grow. And that the harvest will be in abundance. In Jesus' name Amen! ... See MoreSee Less

Prayer and Fasting Day 9Tips for When You're Walking on Water "So He said, "Come." And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" Matthew 14:29, 30As followers of Jesus Christ, we have experiences when we "step out in faith." The account of Peter getting out of the boat and stepping into the rough waters is surely a great example for us to use as we go through life.Peter was the only one who stepped out in faith on that stormy night. We also will find ourselves in that same lonely place at times. God will call us through His Word, just like Jesus called Peter to come. But we may be the only one. Our friends may be content with business as usual. Our family members may be willing to just stay in the boat. But meanwhile, we will hear the voice of the Lord telling us to step out in faith. The Scripture doesn't say how the others reacted when Peter first got out of the boat. But it's totally plausible that they tried to keep him from stepping out. After all, they were sitting there frightened from the storm and scared of the sight of Jesus who they thought was a ghost. But Peter heard the voice and he stepped out anyway . . . he paid no attention to the voices in the background. He only listened to the voice of the Lord.Peter did fine, until he got his eyes back on the circumstances of the boisterous waves. Then he abandoned his faith and took up fear . . . that's when he started sinking. It was the fear that put him back in the clutches of the world and its deadly consequences.Peter could have gone with the fear, but it was his faith in Jesus that got him back on track! Even while he was sinking he stirred up his faith again and called out to the Lord. The Lord rebuked Peter for his lack of faith (a rebuke means "sharp words to cause correction") and then reached out and pulled him up so he could continue in his walk of faith. We are faced with times when we must step out in faith. These are the times when we must keep our ears and eyes open to the Lord and Him only. We cannot let negative voices, unbelieving comments, or stormy circumstances drown out the Word of the Lord. The storms will come, but Christ will always be there for us. We must look to Him, ask Him to show us what to do, and when He does, we must confidently step out in faith and walk in the Spirit. If we make a mistake and fall back, we need only to call upon the Lord, take corrective measures, and continue our walk on to victory and success!Be blessed,Susan Gregory Prayer Focus - The unity of the churchLet us pray! Dear Lord, I come come to you today. I thank you for being a member of a local church. Thank you that you put us accountable with each other. I pray for unity. Even we ared different individuals but I pray that we see one vision (Jesus Christ). I pray that we unite our faith and when you call us to step out in faith. No one will be left behind nor one will have doubts on what you call us for. Help us to obey you in Jesus mighty name! ... See MoreSee Less
